opinions please on a 2nd hand laptop.........

.......hey all, an associate of mine has offered me his laptop for what i think is a reasonable amount, ?180. Around half of what he paid he said.

its an Acer Aspire 5742 Core i3-370.its around 8 months old, had little use as most of his computing is on his desktop. comes with windows 7 home, and box.

reason for sale is he's a rich tw@t and is going Mac.

i will be running this along with the desktop from Ebuyer, no woman moaning at me now about how much i'm spending.

I've not looked at the specs, but as long as it has over 2GB (4GB would be better) then I'd go for it.

I reckon its a good deal wetdog, being a mate too, won't have anything wrong with it that he aint told you about. And a bit of warranty left too.
You Cannot buy an i3 for less than 300 quid here. Apart from re-furbed, box open jobs.
As regards i7 jetdede.. he's trying to do it on a budget... cheapest i7 gotta be ?500 at a guess.

I would go for it mate, your saving about ?150 n new.

*There was one model that had a weird sound, something to do with only using one channel of the audio.. not even mono, the left side of stereo. Not sure which one, so do a bit of checking.

I am after a new lappy, and the i3 is what I will be looking for. I have it in desktop form and it is extremely fine.

cheers guys, i know this chap fairly wel. he is reasonably well off and changes toys frequently. he is buying some 26" mac thing. his desktop is also for sale but its to big physically for me. its some fluid cooled behemoth, 21" monitor, TB hard drive, etc. and to expensive for me anyhows.

Xant, i dont think this is the machine with the sound problems. but thank you for the heads up.

CC, its got 3 gig mem and 250 gig hard drive. he paid around ?379.99 he reckons around nov/dec last year. currently cant find the receipt but he is looking for it. paid by card and knows where it was bought from.
