.......sometimes when i download, ahem, films, i only get the audio with the media player playing the random screen.

get yerself the silvercrest dvd player the next time they in lidl or aldi play anything they dousually its the format they were uploaded m8 you can convert them using convertx to dvd

Media player runs fine with decent ish PC/Laptop. Vlc does run better.
