picture output to TV.....

.....afternoon chaps, my Laptop has a HDMI output and when i connect up to the TV the picture doesnt fill the screen, there is a large border all around the edges. when connected via the monitor output plug, dont know what its called it has about 15 pins i think, that fills the screen.
i have tried to zoom or change aspect on the TV but it isnt available in HDMI mode.

running W7 home edition, and cannot find a setting to alter picture size.

what graphic card,do you have in your Laptop

in the control pannel on the laptop there should be a control pannel for the graphics card to set up multiple displays, from there you should be able to change the output resolution to the tv.
there could be a drop down box for the multiple displays if there is choose the option of tv first + pc.

Personalize
Display
Change display settings
The tv should be there under display
