    computer speeds???

afternoon all, i have just transferred 200 music tracks from my HD to a USB pendrive, then uploaded them to a desktop.

Now, on my lappy running an i3, 3 gig ram, it took 5 mins to write them to the USB drive, but only 1 min 30 secs to upload them to a desktop with a 2.oghz and 2 gig ram.

    Why?

i thought my lappy would be quicker.

    mick.

3: Your total contribution to this forum, bordering on trolling, seems to have been a collection of snipes, one liners & asterisked expletives

On the laptop all the files were probably fragmented across the drive so had to be reassembled to write onto the flash drive intact, when being written back as they were unfragmented they could be read much quicker would be my guess.
