    Externa hard drive question

Hi all, can anyone advise me, is it possible to lock a hard drive so that files can be used but not transfered to another device. Basically I dj at a local boozer and while I'm on holiday the landlord wants to carry on with the karaoke & wants to borrow my hard drive which is full of karaoke tracks, I don't mind him using it but not to copy it and therefore put me out of a job when I get back! if that makes sense. I'm sure it must be possible to password protect it somehow.
    Thanks in advance
    Larry

Just hide the files in hidden files and you can unhide them when you need them...............

If you right click the file and go properties, sharing, you have an option to make this folder private.....................

Yea I want them to be able to play tracks but not copy, there is over 50,000 karaoke songs, if this is possible would I have to do every file or just put them in 1 folder & protect that?
              cheers all for your advise.

Move all the files you want to let him play into a folder. Right click on that folder goto properties. Under that look for security. Now look at setting up the ownerships on what access differant users can do like read/write ect

I've put all the karaoke files onto a spare hard drive but I haven't been able to password protect the files, it seems that you guys are right, if they can be played they can be copied. My dilemma now is do I or don't I let them use it.
Thanks for all your help guys.

I wouldn't be quick to allow the landlord to have that hard drive. How about making drive available via a trusted friend each night it is required. I trust it is not needed every night.
