The laptop/web book will always be more versatile than a tablet. If it's wanted for serious work, i.e. homework, then get the laptop. If it's just for messing around with & playing daft games then the tablet will be fine.

The son I am talking about is 8yrs , so homework not an issue yet but I have often thought about which to get? Like I said he as ?80/?100. So maybe it's a pretty basic lappy, or a webook..what's the difference is it just ones better at surfing and the other office cd drive etc.and the one I am watching what's that like.which is best for games "angry birds and friv,Facebook games etc.. Did you have a look at the item? What you think. Cheers Micky

      Any other input? Thnx

Just to clear the definitions up a bit....

A laptop has a larger screen, CD/DVD drive & PCMCIA expansion slot.

A Netbook/Notebook has a smaller screen & keyboard, no CD/DVD drive & most don't have the PCMCIA slot. But they are cheaper & external drives are available. Most netbooks/notebooks are slightly less powerful than laptops. But if they have Intel Atom processors, Android could be installed.

Tablets are over sized mobile phones, without the phone. Limited on hardware.. There's no USB support, LAN, Optical drives, serial ports.... very limited.
