It depends very much on whether your motherboard allows boot via USB. Some of the later ones will allow this but only if the actual drive is structured in a specific way and does not require any extra driver for initial functionality. It usually involves a special partition on the drive which contains a bootloader. This partition is often quite small, maybe 100Mbytes or so and sort of simulates a floppy boot.
For XP and Win7, you would set things up in a similar fashion to the way its set up for a USB flash boot of those OS's.Last edited by TheCoder; 11 October, 2011, 00:23.Comment
