    That speed is Fair ,
Internet speed depends mainly on How many people are on the Internet in your area at the same time as you and what time of the day it is.

Thanks for that reply, cable tends to be more stable because its fibre optics and not phone line, i thought it seemed ok but wasn't sure.

I've been with Virmin media for many years ( even when it was called NT hell ) and when I see the adverts on TV for their so called Fibre Optic Broardband it makes me Laugh,
mainly because if you look at the cable they install in your house it isn't fibre optic cable. They might have installed fibre optic cable in the street but internet speeds still depend on how many people are useing it at the same time.

Are you using 54g wireless connection? Then yea, 23MB is what you'll get, your wireless connection is slower than your routers connection to the ISP... Use a cable to the router and you should then get the 30mb max speed..

sounds good to me... two reasons its not at 30mb. 1. at peak time they "throttle" the bandwidth and 2. if your using wireless.
If you go to 50 mb package they will not "throttle" your bandwidth.

As said, your speed is probably being throttled
try doing a speed test late at night, it should improve
I'm on 50mb and it very rarely drops below 47mb
