hard drive filling up

new lappie ,split the drive when i got it about 6 weeks ago,back up files on that section,now it says drive is nearly full,on that drive file is windowsimage backup,one file in there is two vhd files one of them 35gb,one nearly a gig,can i clear these?

Because it takes up so much space and when a hard drive dies it tends to take the whole drive, you are generally better off burning the Windows image off to optical disc.

Also worth clearing out system restore every now and then, or just set it to a specific amount of drive space.
