    help buying a new laptop

Guys i need your help, on or around the 28th of this mth i plan to buy myself a new laptop, but i'm unsure of what to go for. can any of you guys give me a good laptop to go for. I want a laptop that will be reasonably efficient for editing videos & photos & maybe for a bit of gaming although i can maybe do without it if gaming card will effect the price. I also want it for the usual things like downloading & what not. I have a limit of ?550. i can't afford to go over that amount. Looks aren't that important to me but i'd prefer the more popular brand names. What would be a nice bonus would be the ability to play blu ray disc as well as a decent dvd cd rewriter. Hope this isn't a big ask as i have always trusted your opinion and advice in the past. Also hope you all have merry Christmas & a peaceful & happy newyear.

?550 is gonna get an i5 minimum, possibly an i7 in the intel processor range.. get searching the major sites, ebuyer, dabs, amazon, btshop and narrowing down your search by putting i5 in (or i7). Then you will narrow down your list of 1000's to maybe 20 or so. you can compare specs of these to suit what YOU find important... Bluray drive, Big HDD, screen size etc.

Or, go to PCWorld, tell the spotty geek EXACTLY how much you have to spend, ie ?550, and he is gonna find you the ultimate machine for ?549.99.. the alternatives The ?499.99 one he will tell you is shit, and the ?599.99 one is overkill.

I would make sure you get a second generation Sandy Bridge processor too. These are made known by the 2 in front of the processor number, i5 2300, i5 2400 etc. IF you want intel that is.
I would go for USB 3.0 on the MoBo too, for future proofing. When mated up to a USB 3.0 HDD it is blisteringly fast... Need it if your a torrent fan.

Import tax? Left hand drive? Imternational warranty? Yank keyboard? 110V plug, dunno... maybe these will or wont apply?
How long will it take to come? and how much are you saving? is it worth it?
Post the link, let us have a look.
