putting a PC back to day one

I'm looking to sell a desktop PC (zoostorm 2gb) thats not very old and hardly used as laptop is used alot more.

I want to remove everything off this pc before selling i.e put it back to day one, so basically want to remove photos that the kids have put on there and some documents that the Mrs has on it.
Is this possible as i know people sell pc's on but how do you make sure info is removed like bank details and passwords etc etc ???

thanks guys (i know its not just as simple as "right click - delete) before anyone says... its windows 7 btw

    thanks in advance

I agree with shady but make very sure you really don't need the info anymore because once it's nuked you will be very hard pushed to recover it, which is exactly what you want to happen.

right on...your basic format will not kill the special area left for deleted files unless you use a wipe program as mentioned...many exist just for this job....but unless you smash it yourself, your secret can be mine!!!!

other than formating u could change the hdd and install a fresh windows on that

then u still have everything saved and can be obtained again via usb

check out these 2.5" hdd holders (caddys)

Dban will do the job as previously mentioned.

                      hi

I have not been able to burn the download to disc

I downloaded the Dban rar file
                      From the Dban

DBAN 2.2.6 Beta for CD-R and DVD-R media.
(Burn this file to a blank disc and boot the computer with it. Do not unzip this file.)

I have tried this with 2 different burning programs to no avail

I have looked in the rar file to see

DBAN.BZI bzi file ISOLINUX bin file ISOLINUX Security Catalog ISOLINUX cfg file

ABOUT QUICK RAID WARNING files all text documents

Do I just need to burn one of the files to cd

                      Thanks for any advice

download some burning software such as magiciso, double click on iso file in rar archive, and it will open burning software.. then just burn it at slowest speed
