Need a good External Hard drive

My team in at work are looking for a 1TB hard drive. It will be used daily for backing up a shared drive as IT are bollocks at doing so.

Does not need to a really cheap one but looking for one that has a good chance of having a long life span.

Suggestions would be great links would be great.

seen that one today shady and is the one I like. Most likely the company wont order from Ebuyer and end up paying twice the price but hopefully if I have a few options we will get one we want

I either use Seagate or Buffalo. Got a seagate one now. Its unfortunate, but after the floods in Thailand the prices for these things have gone through the roof!

To be honest. Ive always done my own. When i have a spare HDD kicking about i put it in a enclosure.

If its for backups of work, are you sure you wont want a NAS enclosure so anyone can access it at any time?Enclosures i get

            CIT USB 3.0 3.5" SATA HDD Enclosure - CITUSBENC35M143S - CCL Computers

This is the NAS i bought (come down also) ITs got 2x2tb on a raid 0 but can be used to stripe and auto backup data

Hey mate yeah I like the idea of a NAS but work in a refinery so it's a large network and the setup of a NAS would need to go through IT and for a start there useless and next they would question it to get out of doing it. IT in here are a nightmare.

I like the idea of the enclosure as I buy Samsung Spinpoint HDD's and really cant fault them they do a great job so then I would know what is inside it if we went the enclosure route but then would have to explain to purchasing .

I agree these are excellent drives I have 2 and they have never given me any problems they are also encrypted so you can keep your data private. I went for this version though as it doesn?t need a power supply.

I would have to say a Samsung S2 USB 3.0 1tb portable drive. I have one and it is really reliable and speedy via usb 3.0 connection and also good speeds on usb 2.0, it's really small, lightweight and portable. I bought mine from PC World.
