Photos folder cant see pictures

Hi all help would be greatly appreciated. I use windows 7 and in my photo folder when I opened it I used to be able to see thumbnails of my pictures but now all I see is an icon with the picture numbers underneath. I know adjusting the icon size used to affect this but have tried increasing icon sizes still nothing not sure how to fix please help.

There's a check box in Folder Options 'always show icons never thumbnails' - could make sure that's not been selected

I'm an xp'er so not familar with 7, however, sometimes if you say download a software for to make a photo album or to enhance your photos like Irfanview or Picasso these can put their own logo on your pics. so they change the way you previously viewed your thumbnails. Maybe this will explain, or not.
