Live XP for usb pen..

If you want XP on a usb pen that you can use on any machine (providing its bios supports booting from usb)
then here is an image i made up using Winbuilder and Live XP script.
I have made it as easy as possible to understand with instructions included, basically you can do it in 3 small steps.
Its main use is for fixing pc's as it contains a lot of handy tools, too many to mention and its super quick when loaded.

Its only 250mb in size so a cheap pen will work ok.

Alternatively if you want to create your own image with tools that you find useful then Bart's Preinstalled Environment software BartPE here enables you to do this. It is not a ready to run image but enables you to make your own.

The program that i used is called Winbuilder which is the replacement for Bart PE mate.

Its the same guys that done PE who are developing it, their aim is to make it easy for you to customize your own build and upload it..
You can download scripts from inside the program and use a copy of xp sp2 as your source..

Its still in beta but its pretty stable, if you are handy with PE then you will like Winbuilder..
Its a bit of a time vampire though, a was ~~~~in around with it for a whole night and after 3 bottles of Merrydown a managed to wipe all the boot loaders of ma hard drives..
The missus came into the living room at 6am to find me shouting "you killed ma pc ya c+*&" at the usb pen...

Sorry i couldnt get this to work following the instructions supplied , comes up with
NTLDR OR BOOTMGR OR GLRDR NOT FOUND IN BOOT SECTOR.

If you select yes as in first instruction i cancels it down

For the hires's cd the instructions say you must copy a few files, like the glrdr file, to the usb root. Did you do that?

Another option I would recommend is the F4UBCD which also have a MiniXP. This CD can also be transfered to USB and you dont need to copy any more files to make it work, expept for the included program for preparing the USB stick. (everything included in the archive)
That MiniXP feels also more expanded than the hirens one.
Many of the hirens tools are also included, but is based on hirens v.13. But if you have the hirens v15 cd, you just can copy the Programs folder and the HBCDmenu.exe file to the root on your F4UBCD USB stick. Then you will get all the recent Hirens apps as well.

As per the instructions I opened ,"make USB exe" and selected target drive (g: in my case) , and then selected "go". I get a error message with title "Selected drive not valid" with the following text in error box "Please select drive for partition 1 of USB stick"

Please advise to resolve this issue.

A haven't had a go myself chief but it looks pretty straight forward, as long as you have a copy of 7 you can download Winbuilder that has many scripts to choose from for your own custom needs..

Once you get used to Winbuilder it gets easier, its the same team that did BartPE, although its the same idea they wrote Winbuilder from scratch to make it more simpe..
A had a go at trying to make my own script but its just to time consuming and the missus was ready for cutting ma nuts off so a gave up.
Its hard to bring anything out that rivals Hirens..

Ave been working on a optimized version of 7, something like Tiny7 but not missing as many bits and updated to SP1..
The best a have so far is roughly 950mb and its quick and stable.
A downloaded a few that people had uploaded and came across a clever version done by a Russian, its roughly 900mb and seemed to work well so il need to pull ma finger out to catch up with him..
A was a member of the forum that done Tiny7 and a picked up a few good ideas, just a shame they aint gonna do anymore Tiny builds..
