I've recently built a new PC and my CPU is at 58 ?C (136 ?F) half load. I've looked about but can't find a good answer. I've installed a second 90mm fan at the back of case taking air out.
CPU 58c too hot?

What's your pc spec? I'm not a computer expert, more of an enthusiast but I would say that is too hot. I have a custom build myself. It also depends on different processors, what temperature they can handle. I think you need liquid cooling for the cpu. I have an I5 2500K running at 4.6ghz, cpu temp is 43 degrees I believe.Last edited by 03ahmads; 24 March, 2012, 21:07. -
Thanks, my processor is the AMD FX 6 Core the AMD equivalent to the i5, with 8GB RAM. I've decided to buy a aftermarket CPU cooler - Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev 2 Socket 775, 1156.. | Ebuyer.comLast edited by footyaddict; 24 March, 2012, 21:59.Comment

yeah that seems a bit too high you want it 30-40 max unless overclocking.
have you overclocked your cpu or gpu?
is your psu or other componets at full load?
have another psu to compare to?
is the room your your pc in hot?
shut down your pc
take case off
clean up inside
manage your cabling tidy that so your able to get nice airflow through your case.
make sure your cpu cooler is fine and working properly
and your cpu has paste on if requires it.Comment

The CPU isn't overclocked and i'm using a 600W PSU with a 2tb HDD, low profile graphics card and tv tuner. No cables are preventing airflow.yeah that seems a bit too high you want it 30-40 max unless overclocking.

Stock coolers can be really crap, I wouldn't be over concerned get your new cooler, run a program like 'Prime95' and see how your temperatures are over a decent period of time 40 min - 1 hour.
Also might want to get some decent paste, again sometimes the paste that comes with the cpu and cooler is of a lesser quality.Comment

Installed CPU today temperatures have dropped to 30c, fitting the cooler was a bit awkward with the AM3+ socket but no major problems. Was definitely money well spent
Thanks for everyone's help, especially Bann32 (y)
