    Using PC as movie player?

I've moved my old PC into the bedroom to use as a movie player, and it's working out well except for a few things. I'm looking for ideas to make this as simple as possible, and preferably to find a way around my need for a keyboard and mouse. Mainly the mouse.

The PC is not currently networked nor do I plan to set it up that way (unless there's a big advantage). It's Windows 7 64bit. I've got VLC installed and have it set to run on startup. I've removed the login password for the account I'm using. The movies I play are saved onto a "computer stick thingy."

After booting up, I click the login account, wait for VLC to load, then have to use the keyboard and mouse (fun to use on a comforter!) to Q up the movies I want to watch. I have to keep the mouse handy to control the volume, and that's a struggle. The mouse and keyboard are both wireless. The wired mouse worked better, but I'd prefer not to have my bed set up like a desk!
