    recording from internet

    hi all i use nch soundtap to record from the net but it keeps going for 14 days then wants me to buy it
    does any1 know of such a recorder thats easy to use & doesnt want cash.

    There are many programs that can record what goes to your soundcard

    You can just use a tool that records all coming from your soundcard. Do you just need sound or also video? Because thats quite complex.
    If you need sound, audacity may do it.

      i just need sound & hopefully its into mp3 format. thanks
      i just tried it tester & i cant seem to switch off the mic record as i just want to record from net but i will carry on thanks anyway

        I seem to recall a free program called streamosaur which would record internet radio or an audio source, in real time, playing through computer.

          i d/load music i want from youtube using firefox 12 and a youtube add-on downloader then convert from video to mp3 using a free converstion software from filehippo.com

            tried

            hi i tried streamasaur, avs, audacity & so on but they seems to want to record the mic (background noise) but i just want music ????? any ideas

                  I use polderbits costs about ?20 but well worth it. Audacity is free and should record internet streams, I use it on linux and it works OK

                    the audacity works fine but it records from the mic as in background noise not just the music streaming from the net. so when played back you hear music + people talking in the background which i can't turn off

                      you can use jet audio which has a recording feature that allows you to record what you here through your sound card, the software is free.
                      whatever format the sound is in there a plenty of free audio converters to convert it to mp3.
