is the internet working? if not u will need to manually install the lan drivers
have u got a motherboard driver disc?
if not you will have to go looking for a driver

Got all drivers required, internet working, eventually got windows updates to work, but they are so slow its taking a lifetime.
Also keep getting an error in Chrome when downloading "Cannot save due to insufficient permissions. Please save to another location"
            Crazy this

It was a vista lappy cod. Very odd, put sp1 on and it took near three hours to install

Badly need help with this lappy, runs perfect in safe mode top speeds, but when booted normally its so slow it's not worth having, nothing really on it other than antivirus, ashampoo, malwarebytes and driver genius .

It looks like my issue is a driver conflict, any advice on tracking down which driver is causing the issues, or how I would go about tracing the problem ?

You can try checking the drivers in device manager - any problems should have a mark next to them.
If possible try getting the drivers from the laptop manufacturers website.

The drivers are all from the manufacturers web site and there are no errors reported in device manager.
In safe mode with networking it is fine but its impossible to use when booted normally.

No its 1gb, the system came with vista installed.

I believe Ive found the problem, Avira security suite, I disabled it as a process of elimination, the lappy ran much faster, so I'm now removing it altogether.

                              Ok, update

Complete format and clean install, everything went fine, running perfect untill I added graphics driver, then the whole thing ground to a halt again, so now I know the issue, how the fork do I solve it given that I am using the correct driver from the manufacturers website.
