The web browser is very basic & unless you want to download books on the go, I really wouldn't bother with the 3G version.
Wifi comes as standard on all kindles. This has always been good enough for me. We all have mobile phones, most android phones can be run as a wifi hotspot. I've never had to download while out and about, but if I had to I'd just use my phone...saving myself some serious coin by not buying the 3G kindle.
The Kindle 3 (with keyboard) is good. It's battery life beats the Kindle 4 & it has more memory.
But the Kindle 4 has a bigger screen & is easier to handle. But if you break the screen it can't be fixed. So take up the offer of insurance (Argos offers 3 years cover for ?19... Bargain)
I've had a play with the Kindle touch. It works. But being used to the Kindle 4 & pressing buttons to turn pages, I just couldn't bring myself to change to the touch screen.
My biggest worry was how annoying it will be when the kindle slips from my grip slightly. I should point out that I read a lot in bed. When my kindle 4 slips it's no big deal as my reaction to grip harder has unwanted effects on it. But a touch screen would start skipping pages.
It's all a personal choice. But I had a serious problem finding a Kindle 4 in the shops. They all had the touch, but were sold out of the 4. To me that's saying that the touch isn't as popular as the smaller kindle 4.
Of course, you're going to find it hard to find a kindle 3 as well.Canker
