SD card and Garmin?

hi can anybody tell me how to download , my maps on to a sd card ,? as the garmin unit memory if too small for the map size in GB. when i put the sd card into the unit, its not showing up "and the downloader is just giveing me the garmin unit to send the maps too,its a garmin nuvi 660, any advice welcome. thanks..

Check that SD

The Garmin "mapinstall" program should see your SD card and install your maps on the device and/or card. Make sure your SD card is good and formated.

hi, check your sd card can't remember if my garmin was a sdhc card.

Which model of Garmin? Some wont see maps on the SD card. Does yours have maps on their already that you are updating?
Look at GPS underground for all you'll need but I think registration is now needed.
