as for network card i have no idea what you mean but i'm pretty sure i dont have one.
the network card is what the connects the router to the pc

as for windows 7 ur machine might be to old to handle it or u dont have the ram/memory to support windows 7

click the link download the upgrade adviser and run it
this will tell u if ur system can handle windows 7 and if it can we can help u upgrade

i'm assuming i need to be online on the computer (not this laptop) to download and run the upgrade adviser? every time i go online on the computer i get the problems with webpage message and when i tried to download anti-virus etc they failed. when the repairer did come out he said that the shell was older than the components and it was not bad i think he said it was/had 40gb/mb but honestly it means nothing to me as i've had no tuition on computers at all.

were do u live i really wonna come over n help u

yes try the download on the old system its only small so ya should get it
if u cant and get an error take a picture screen shot or write down exactly what the error is and then can possibly solve the issue out from here

just thinking installing a new web browser mite fix it
download this on the laptop http://www.filehippo.com/download_firefox/ transfer to usb stick then install on the XP machine and try n load a webpage and see if u get any errors

i started the computer it now runs a shared memory check every time i switch it on (checking nvram) got online with the i.e in start menu got to the dk page but before it had fully loaded i got the same internet explorer warning box with
            line 2
            char 13.
error expected "_ (looks like when people send a face on text etc).
            url http//www.digital-kaos.co.uk/
i then clicked the x in the red box to close the message i then entered my dk username and password clicked login but again warning box popped up -line 11,char 3190,error. expected '/". clicked x to close the box hit straight away with line 8,char 1, error:'YAHOO' is undefined. i left the next box up onscreen whilst i came and reported the results on here but halfway through typing this i noticed another big box on screen- internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.we are sorry for the inconveniance. i then clicked on send error report and after sending the report it closed down.

ok try this in explorer Click on Tools > Internet Options>Advanced Tab>Place a check mark for "Disable script debugging".

if that dont work try this http://support.microsoft.com/mats/ie...d_safety/en-us

this should reset ur ie back to default

the only other thing i can think of is that java is the cause when was the last time it was updated and what version of ie are u using ??

got to th advanced menu after line 439,char 370,error.type mismatch code 0, but the disable script debugging option was allready ticked, the only boxes unticked in the ACCESSIBILTY AND BROWSING HEADINGS were ACCESSIBILITY 1)always expand alt text for image 2) move system caret with focus/selection changes (these are the only 2 options under this heading)
BROWSING 1)automatically check for internet explorer updates 2) enable install on demand (i.e) 3)enable personalize favs menu 4)force offscreen compositing even under terminal server (requires re-start) 5) show friendly URLs all other options in BROWSING are ticked. i dont know if this info is helpful
