anyone recomend a good prog for finding missing drivers. Ive got a lappy here running vista. Was gona upgrade it to win7 but couldnt get the lappy to boot from dvd. Looks like the drivers for the cd/dvd drive are missing as its not worked in a few months. Ive been trying various driver tools but none can find the missing driver. I got a prog called driver easy with a crack but soon as it gets a net connection it updates the prog which kills the crack. goin round in circles.

dont updated it and dont have it connected to the net when installing

get yaself a copy of windows 7 from here

then get a usb stick and make windows 7 bootable from ur usb How to create a bootable Windows 7 USB flash drive | Ars Technica
u mite have to enter the bios and change ur boot sequence settings to boot from the usb stick

does the drive show in my computer if not then try the manufacturers web site for the drivers for your make and model laptop.
when you upgrade to windows 7 from vista you do not boot from the disc you run the disc as a normal software installation it will then upgrade the operating system its what is called an in place upgrade it will keep all software and files already installed and not format the hard drive.
