computer screen flickers when conneted to lcd tv

i have connected my desktop pc running windows xp to a lcd tv by vga to dvi the screen was working fine then after about a week of use its started to flicker which really gets annoying i have played about with display settings,took the graphics card out and tried another card deleted drivers and reinstalled them,but when i connect the laptop to it its perfect any ideas how to fix this before the computer gets used as a football

try changing the screens refresh rate on the pc HERTZ

Few things to check:
(1) Verify that the cable you are using works when you connect to some other TV or Monitor (no flicker)
(2) Update your Video Drivers
(3) Reduce the resolution to see if the refresh rate is an issue
(4) use different cable VGA or HDMI to reconnect

tried all off them with no luck will it be some thing to do with the vga to dvi converter,the tv only has dvi in and not vga or hdmi and the computer only has vga out but as i say i connect the laptop via this way and the picture is perfect

You're using a VGA to DVI convertor? (A separate box with a input & an output) Or is it just a VGA to DVI cable?

Do you have a different cable to try ? ive had this from a bad cable.

got it sorted i unplugged it for a week then tried a third cable and its working now only been two days but we will see how it goes
