wifi issues

Having problem with wifi didnt know but i was on wep now changed to wpa2 after bit of messing i got it working ok as it was conflicting with my old wep password so reset ipconfig reset winsock it was ok for a while then went off

left it a while it was ok again now its playing up again when i check the lappy seems to be going back to my wep password and conflicting so it just keeps searching for ip

im not sure if i am doing everything in the correct order as it seems to go back to my initial wep

how do i get rid of it and start again

its dell lappy btw i went away once and had problems at hotel until i found the correct way of deleting whatever it was but i cant find what i used before just doing it from memory. I think i had to stop the actual dell wifi and use the wireless zero config and do some other stuff but i cant remember the correct sequence or if i have missed something

been messing ages now everytime i get wifi to work its on a few minutes then goes down the wifi reverts back to its old wep

I cant seem to clear the old one at all

think its something to do with clearing netsh winsock iplogs or whatever but dont think im doing it right as it only works for a few min then reverts to the one i have tried to clear

Have you also tried resetting router? Or any other devices havin similar issues?

XP m8

No issues with 3 mobiles

Just lappy it keeps reverting to the old setting and cuts off i cant get rid of it, i know there is a sequence to clear it off somehow but i cant find what i used before.

Are you using windows own wifi management or another 3rd party?

If your using a 3rd party disable it from boot in msconfig and start windows own in services.msc

Windows own wireless zero config

Already disabled the dell wifi utility


Trying to remember what i read before lappy wouldnt connect to hotel wifi, so i found a fix it was something to do with dell wifi utility conflict i done a few things using cmd rebooted a few times started to zero config and it was ok


This though seems to take me back to my original wifi setting in windows all the time, i have tried deleting the wifi network it just come back with same password and knocks the new one off

I can remove the wireless connections in first pic but they keep coming back


If i turn it all off reset winsock whatever its fine for a bit then it reverts back to old password pic 2. It does not matter what i change in that box it reverts back. i tick ,untick change, the sssid cannot be changed, only password and wpa part.

The wpa bit will stay where i change it but password always reverts back

In your router settings page. Try changing ssid to a new name. Then rescan, enter pw im thinking that it should make a new connection

I can get it on now i updated bios it worked well for a few hours then it keeps dropping wifi. It still says its connected but wont find web pages seems to hang on resolving proxy as if the wifi is connecting to another source.

Getting right on me nerves mow tbh im even having trouble going back to wep now
