    Future of Newsgroups

So been a NG user for a number of years, but I am finding it more difficult these days to find what I want on there as posts are now completely removed from servers (previously only parts removed, so could easily repair from back up servers).

I went with some european only servers for a time, but now they too seem to be suffering the same fate as the US based guys.

It seems that torrents may be the only viable alternative left, but have shied away from these for a number of years as I just dont trust them.

What are other Usenet users thoughts on this worrying trend?

It is annoying, though the issue is lessened with programs like sickbeard/couchpotato that regularly scan for tv shows/films that you want. That way you grab the copy before any parts get removed.

You just need to keep an eye on release sites. Not missed or failed to get anything yet

I was particulary looking for Argo 1080p, had to use a european indexer which showed the report, but the report was either damaged or non existant... as you say I am just being a bit quicker with my fetch than normal to miss the dmca takedown.

Who is your provider and are you still searching for this?

I downloaded a couple programs from the news groups and they either had trojans, yontondesktop, or just did'nt work.
I downloaded the latest Hirens dvd and 6 of the rar files were corrupt. dvdfab killed the antivirus program, had to uninstall and re install it.
I used to dl movies but I'm not sure if i trust them anymore.
