    new windows 8

    ok i was gonna go thro all the hassle of building new computer but tbh can be bothered ive got a really good one as it is,ive got a new 1 tb HDD ,so was thinking of taking my old HDD out and replacing it with the new one an sticking windows 8 on it ,and running my old HDD from caddy and puting certain files from that onto new system, is this possible ???

    if you are talking about moving documents, photos, music folders etc. yes then i would think it will be possible to move them from the old hdd.
    as for loading win 8 on a new hdd i would rather stick with win 7 as there seems to be issues with the newer version win 8.1 namely drivers for existing hardware as lainie found out ,could not get a driver for a printer.

      I would rather offer my testicles to rabid weevils than install Windows 8 on a system.

      Just had to wipe a laptop with 8 on it. I was swearing as soon as I touched the power button. That swearing grew louder & more harsh with every failed attempt to do anything productive.

      If you value your sanity, stay with 7.

      And yes, you will be able to transfer files from your old drive. But not installed programs.
