Using old PC as sat reciever

I've got an old silent machine with a 2.3ghz cpu.. I've got an old Sat PCI e card lying around somewhere as well.
Are their any downloadable linux distros that I can download to turn this old PC into a sat reciever?
Has anyone on here tried it? How did you get on?
I'd most likely use it for people who want to get into the satelite as a sort of trial thing, use it for a couple nights, see if they have any issues before buying a real sat receiver.
