    Advise on laptop?

Ok I think my laptop has now had it?.. After numerous frustrated punches I have now had enough.....
It takes about 15mins to fire up, then about 10mins to get onto the internet and a good 5-8mins to load pages, when I have vm 150meg broadband. With a Ethernet connection.
I have the free avg for security, and run cc cleaner every time I turn on laptop.
It's an advent kc500-b running vista.

Any advice on how I can improve this annoying problem with a step by step procedure.
    Or
Any advice on a new laptop, I use the laptop for torrents etc. I already have a few iPads and don't want to spend a lot on a new 1

Have you tried a factory restore, you will after back everything up before you start, if you are thinking of getting shut then maybe you have nothing to lose trying it, also vista is very resource heavy if i am correct and always been sluggish over time, if you get a new one i would get one with at least 4gb of ram and a duo core processor or higher but try a clean install if you have the back up working or the discs

      Maybe a number of things

Try re-seating the ram and check that the HDD is sloted in nicely

Click the start button and type in MSCONFIG
Click STARTUP tab and take the tick out of anything not C:\windows and apply - look at the command tab

Could take the laptop apart and clean it

Upgrade The O/S to Windows 7

your porblem is vista, apparently it saves numerous restore points and cloggs up the sytem. you need to google for it and its a job to delete all the old restore points. Another problem is vista did a major update sometime ago, I think it was SP2 and it had a glitch in that it would not install properly.

thats a good laptop. The best solution is to do a clean re-install but back up your files first.

What you could do as well is use ccleaner to look at the programs that load on boot up and untick the ones that you dont need. There could be loads in there. Also dont have too many antivirus checkers. If you cant do a re-intsall then use malawarebytes to check for unwanted rubbish. the free version is sufficient. And last if you are using IE as a browser dump it and use chrome. use disk cleanup as well. and another trick is to defragment the hard drive after you have got rid of rubbish.

I would get rid of avg and use avast easier and nifty features. as a last resort do a google because you can bet others have had same problem.

Once you get back up and running, also use a vpn service when downloading torrents. Vpn will not make it faster, but safer for you, in my opinion. I use noirvpn.com, but many do exist, but the trick is to use one...everybody is watching torrents, so you're just asking for trouble, the kind you don't want.

If all fails, don't despair, send Lappy to me, at least you know it's gone to a good home

If you want broken laptops I've got 3 here you can have. Customers didn't want to pay for the repairs needed. I've nicked the HDD's & memory... but you can have the memory back.

I would definitely recommend installing windows 7. I had the same problem with Vista on laptops with not a lot of ram, so I just wipe vista off of any laptop I get and put 7 on it straight away now as it always seems to help with speed and a fresh install will also remove any bloatware that can cause this also. Hope this helps!

Ok it's dead. Need to buy a new one... Any ideas don't want to spend too much as I will only use it for downloading and updating other electrical products. And I already have 3 iPads in my household.

It won't stay on. Power cable all ok. It turns on then about 10-20 seconds turns itself off. Won't give me time to put into safe mode.
