virgin actually told me that "your not really going to get the full speed" but while i was on 20 mb i usually had 17 - 18mb

recently (since an engineer came out and fixed it) ive had almost 20mb but keep losing connection

i think they do say up to 20mb though probably how they get out of it!

anyone know the truth behind this, are we always going to lose a bit?

i've got 10MB Virgin BB.. was really happy until i started noticing the speeds had dropped to 1.5MB.. engineer came out, checked speed.. 9.8MB.. the problem was that speedtest had changed their servers to coventry and it was not giving a true reflection.. i now use

Namesco BroadbandMax ADSL Broadband Bandwidth speedtest | Test your ADSL Broadband connection speed

Fibre Optic Broadband (Virgin) is the best for true speeds..

problems with speed can be modems dropping a percentage of the signals, dodgy routers, speed throttling if you download a lot and for non VM people, how far from the exchange you live is the biggy

            hi all

if i had the choice id get cable every time

1.. cable does not loose lots of packets like adsl

2.. adsl is better the closer too the exchange you live
