help with converting .swf files for youtube please

Hi i have used camstudio to record some videos but it only has two types of file it saves as

    1)avi
    2)swf

The avi files end up huge, for example, a 30 sec video is nearly 1.5 gb! so uploading this to youtube is a very slow proccess

The .swf files are much smaller in size, about 40 mb, but youtube does not recognise this file type.

Do i need to convert the .swf files into avi or another format to make them smaller and easier to upload for youtube etc

Or do you think i should try and record in .avi and then somehow reduce this file size?

Any suggestions are welcome. I basically want to record my screen with microphone sound and then to be able to upload these videos to youtube and other sites. Somebody suggested camstudio as it is free but im not sure its the best....

    Can anybody offer advice please?

    Thanks

Avi files are monstrous in size as you say so maybe wmv which are much smaller. I use to use freemake video converter before I moved to linux operating system.

    Download Freemake Video Converter 4.1.4.11 - FileHippo.com

so if you want to try it...it's free. Not sure if it covers swf but it covers avi.

    Good luck.
