hi ive taken a sky hd box apart for the hard drive and would live to ues it on my pc for photos and things but when i plug it into my laptop i can go into the hard drive. my laptop will see the drive but i cant do anything with it. ive looked around on google but nothing ive come across has helped. any help would be great. running windows 7.

Try inside disk manager
The partition will need to be deleted and recreated. IF that fails, a total format in dos might be neededsigpic

i have had drives like that if windows wont let you format recreate like cunny said then try easeus partion manager FREE seems to give you a bit more control over format etc than the windows built in one.. does it give you the size of the drive like 250gb free of 500gb if its not showing that then i would try format recreate, i have sometimes plugging them into a sat box or a TV as external drive that lets you format them can bring them back ter life a bit
