WINDOWS 10 THREAD (if you want, lol)

I think that we can now officially say that windows 10 is garbage (unless you have a touchscreen).

To me personally it looks and acts more like windows 8 which was/is the worst windows ever as we all know (unless you have a touch screen).

Anyways, I thought if you have not seen that it is already available to download free if you have windows 7 or 8 when the official windows 10
release comes out in about 7 weeks time then I would mention it, end of day its up to you obviously.

Here is a couple of videos to go on for starters, these say enough for me to make me stay with Windows 7.

See what you guys think yourselves and let me know your opinions as I would be glad to know as a high end desktop user (not touchscreen).

    Cheers

    p.s,
if this is going to be anything like the final release in a few weeks which it most likely will be, I will be staying with Windows 7 and they can yet
again shove another edition of windows where the sun don't shine, complete waste of time for no gain or possibly even worse.

yeh had a notification on me win 7 lappy aboot the free win 10, even IF win 10 turns oot ok it would still be best to wait a while before you get win 10 give them time to iron oot the standard bugs thats bound to be in any new os from micropish, been looking for a new tower but every where you look they all have win 8 or 8.1 installed and if i install win 7 the warranty will be invalid, just a thought what happened to win 9 ?

I read something about why they didn't bring out windows 9, I think basically it came down to a better marketing ploy to call it 10 like as if it was a massive step forward, yea right, , my azzzzzzz, I can tell ya right now, problems ironed out or not it will just be a remake of windows 8 as shown in those videos, its a cert, if they get it slightly faster in the matter of a few weeks and months then that will be working amazing wonders, they should have held it back for a year and then released a version dedicated to touchscreens and one for pc's and laptops, that would have been the wisest thing they could ever have done, but no, they are only interested in money, and don't be fooled with the "free version" that we are all getting, why you think that is happening ???? LOL, because they know its pizzz, well that's my opinion anyway..........

I just wish they would build the op system round windows 7 x64bit and tweak it right out and then call it anything they bloomin well want, ohh, and make a touchscreen version of it too, but there again, touchscreen freaks already have windows 8 and windows 10 now to play with, they are making normal desktop and laptop users suffer and they are going to get bit in the azz for it if people flock to Mac's, they best watch out, there again, they probably own them now anyway and we just don't know it,

if you have w7 and the icon has appeared on your task-bar
if your not interested in this free w10 upgrade and want to
remove the icon from your task-bar this is how:---------
          -----------------------------------------------------

          REMOVE Win 10 ICON

Don't want to upgrade to Win 10 ??
Do you have an annoying Win 10 Icon on your system task-bar ??
Windows Update is displaying it ?? do you Want to get rid of it & REMOVE it ??
The Reason you have the Win 10 Icon is simply because you Download that yourself through Windows Update...
IE Look for an Update called KB3035583 next:-- How do I find KB3035583 & REMOVE IT ??

Follow these Steps Simple steps ....
Go to Start > Control Panel > Programs & Features > Goto the TOP LHS Corner & Click on "View Installed Updates"
Wait a few Minutes until a List Generates at the Bottom with MS Windows...
Look for the Update KB3035583 Highlight it Then Click Uninstall Your System will now REBOOT
When Windows Restarts your Win 10 Icon has gone & You Will not get it anymore UNLESS you choose to Download it again
through the Windows Update So if you don't want it again untick the KB3035583 Update Otherwise You WILL download
it again & You WILL Have to go through the same steps as above to get rid of it

GMB, I think its about 4GB mate if I remember correctly, plus I think there is also meant to be an option or something that allows you to burn it to disk etc to install at another time, I doubt very much it will install without you giving it the go ahead etc etc etc Just make sure your windows update are set to either manual or download and install when you are ready, that way it wont do the install if you don't want it, infact I am sure they email you first too as you had to give your email address to get it in the first place, well I did, not unless there is a way to bypass the email part, I dunno, I didn't and they said they would send an email when its ready etc, dunno what way you done it as I know there is a couple of ways to get the little windows 10 icon down in the task bar.

Last week’s column on Windows 10 resulted in more than 60 further questions from readers. Here’s another two handfuls from those who might want the new operating system – and Dolores, who doesn’t

Microsoft shows different paths for upgrading to Windows 10, from Windows 8.1, 8, 7 along with the process involved, in desktops, as well as Windows Phone.

If you are running Windows 7, Windows 8.0 or Windows 8.1 RTM (ie the released version, without the spring update), then you will not be able to upgrade using Windows Update. You can either update your operating system before you upgrade, or download the Windows 10 upgrade manually and create your own installation DVD using the Windows Disc Image Burner.

Last week’s column on Windows 10 resulted in many more readers’ questions. Here’s a handful, though nothing is certain until Microsoft launches the code

Just a thought Saltire, but if you can burn win 10 to disk then it maybe possible to partition your drive and install it alongside your other windows. If so, you can try it and if not happy, delete that section of the partition and still have your current windows.
I should say that do not try this until you have thoroughly researched it or you could lose both.

yea mate, I know about all that kinda stuff, thanks anyway though as always , think I might just let others do the testing for me and let them report back, , it appears just now going by everything I have watched and read about windows 10, its really not worthwhile if coming from windows 7 Ultimate x64 like I am, or even lower versions of windows 7 too, the graphical tests and things so far are either showing 50/50 results or sometimes better in favour of windows 7, and a few tests a little better on windows 10, so as I say, as the guys in the videos and articles I have read so far have said, they said its hardly even worthwhile to swap from windows 7 to windows 10 unless you have a touchscreen possibly (same as when they brought out windows 8 which is much more for a touchscreen).

                          p.s
remember though, at this point in time, windows 10 isn't released and people testing it no doubt will have test versions etc (Beta), so there might be a couple of improvements, but there wont be huge improvements until service packs are released and things like that which will take months if not years and by then another version of windows will be out anyway and the whole process will start yet again.

As yet I have not got the upgrade icon on my win7 pc (with SP1).
Call me cynical but what do Microsoft stand to gain by "giving away" windows 10 ?
Is it that they want to be the first to reach 1 billion users of their os ?
Also if, after the upgrade, you don't like win 10 how easy is it to roll back to win7 or 8 ?
I'm undecided yet, if I can "roll back" my os then I may give it a try otherwise it would be too much hassle to re-install everything so I would leave it alone.
Hmmmmm ! Be one of the 1 billion or stay as I am ? That's the question.

put it this way mate, if MS are giving an OP away free of charge mostly, that alone tells a MASSIVE story that its not even worth the bother.

Don't worry about getting the free update mate "if you want it" I can simply tell you how to force your computer to make that happen same as I had to do with one of my computers, its very very very simply stuff, infact, its just a simply click on a file and it does the rest, simple as that.

AND, as far as rolling back to your previous version of windows etc, see here mate >>>>>> http://www.theguardian.com/technolog...tions-answered
