Thanks for that info Saltire, good to know I can roll back if needed.
As for the one click file, I did find a batch file to run but it was on a file sharing site and I had to join if I wanted it. I left it alone as I don't trust file sharing (you never know what will come down attached to the file).
Also I think the same way as you do, if MS are giving away an os that they must have spent millions on, then why are they giving it away ?
Is it to stop a consumer backlash when people realise that it's rubbish and they have wasted x amount of pounds ?

Why do we need a "new" operating system?

Bit like saying here is a 1920 bicycle verses 1990 model verses 2015, so what

Right, had enough of this piece of garbage that is actually no more than adware/malware, I mean this STUPID free windows 10 thing, I have been searching for weeks now to try and find a way to completely BLOCK the Microsoft update that starts all this, then it implants that stupid little white icon on your task bar even if you don't click on it and say that you want to reserve a copy, I have tried several of the known fixes on the internet that I could find and all are useless, this thing always comes back, BUT, There has to, there must be a way of blocking it installing the update and also removing the icon too, there has to be man.

Can anyone tell me if you have managed to do it please ? ? ? And I don't just mean remove the icon (that's simple) because the actual application is still running in the background same as adware/malware would.

Has to be a way to do this, anyone cracked it yet please let me know a.s.a. p , cheers guys

In Windows updates list, change update KB 3035583 to optional, then hide it. Then you need to delete the update. IIRC I used add/remove programs.

Post in the forum, that is what it is here for.

It's free if you upgrade in the first 12 months, from Win7 Pro/Ultimate - son't give a sh*t about 8 myself, so haven't looked, but not for corporate versions. I'm guessing subscription based upgrades, Bill's been after that for a while. Why make people pay once when you can charge them every day of their lives.

your only hiding it mate, its still running in the background, trust me, it will auto install on your system, I have tried every way so far I can see to get rid of it and cant, don't get me wrong, if I would have blocked that single update from the start then I could have stopped it, but they trick you and mix it in with other updates, plus I have read that there are 1 or 2 other windows updates that relate to it too, so they are defo trying to force this on us big style.

                  EDIT:
put it this way, I just looked for KB 3035583 in my windows update list and its not even showing, yet I still have the daft windows 10 icon, its driving me nutz knowing that app is running on my computer man, GGRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrr !!!!

Don't have it on mine anymore. Like I said, before you hide it you have to change it from important to optional. Then it won't re-install. Then you have to delete it.

There's threads all over the internet on how to do it. Google KB 3035583 and I'm sure you'll find all you need.

Forgot one more thing, you need to go to the updates window and untick the "get recommended updates".

Look in task manager for running processes.

So as long as that windows icon is not in my system tray it wont download or install. I did sign up for the update but changed my mind and canceled my request. but it still said I was subscribed. I read a post and deleted through windows update and the windows icon is no longer in my system tray, but I forgot to change option so it didn't download the option in updates again. so as long as removing the icon in system tray stops the update ill ill sort it next time it shows...
