    HDD Question

    Hi,

Got an issue with one of my workstations. The power supply has fried (ATX-250-12Z Rev. C), which seems to be a common issue with said power supply in HP computers.

The issue is, I really need access to the file on the HDD in that PC, but with the other system, again HP, the power supplier connections for the MOBO (More pins) and HDD (completely different connection). Is there an adapter for the connection to HDD? Also, can I interchange the HDD from one system to the other and expect it to work?

I'm thinking not, but no harm in asking.

Sounds like you are trying to swap a SATA disk into an IDE system (or vice versa) and that is why the connectors are different. You can get adapters - try typing "SATA IDE convertor" into Ebay, or you can buy an external drive caddy that will connect to any PC by USB so that you can copy your data off.

    Cheers,
