    XP Fails to load

    I stupidly switched on my pc at the wall now when i go to
    turn it on the windows xp screen goes on then after that all i get is a blank screen i tried a repair using a xp disk but had no joy it only goes so far then stops. tried to just install windows again and it goes as far as checking for previous operating systems then stops. i aint got a clue might it mean a new harddrive?? or can anyone help me fix it hope so

    You can download a live cd, burn it onto a cd then boot from the cd. It doesnt use your hard drive and loads completely from the cd. When cd boots into its own windows xp environment it probably means your hardware is ok and problem with your windows installation or hard drive itself.

    If you boot with cd and once its loaded goto my computer and see if you can access your hard drive. There are also many utilities on live cds which you can use. If you need a link to one let me know and i ll post one.

      Hello mate \any chance you can post me a link for the cd i need just i went google there put live cd in the search and brought up a page full of stuff and i cant see the one for xp

        Does your hard drive show on on the post boot screen ?

            i have this all the time

            you hdd seems to have losts itself, if you know what i mean. you need to get the drive to spin back to its "start position" do you have a second hdd you can install xp on or use the above mentioned. when in windows carry out a scan on the original hdd. this should sort the issue.
