How as your upgrade to windows 7 been?

Well after purchasing a laptop with a 'free' windows 7 upgrade at launch date from PC World.

The laptop came last monday and all is good, apart from no documentation about the 'free' upgrade to windows 7. So i called them. I was then told to goto the windows 7 upgrade site, which i did but was not actually active at the time.

I then later tried to register my laptop with toshiba, tried again for the upgrade, they wanted ?30 'postage and handling fee'.
After rambling on the phone i was told i could collect from store, with proof of purchase. I then went down today and have now been told that i was misinformed about this. So i rang PC World customer services. They told me it was ?30 to upgrade, i pointed out that when i purchased the machine it should have come with 'free' upgrade.

Of course PC World wont budge and are adiment that the upgrade is 'free' but in my opinion ?30 does no equal free and that they have been mis advertising these upgrades. It got to the point on the phone with customer services where the guy said 'this software is ?130 to buy and your complaining about ?30' well my reply of course was '?130, i think your mistaken, Tesco are selling the same pachage that i am supposed to have for 'free' for ?60, obviously i better speak to your supervisor or manager sir, as you are obviously not in the know' He then hung up.

What i want to know is if anyone has had similar experience with this upgrade to windows 7?

    Thanks in advance.

I would never buy from pc world. All's they are interested in is selling you useless insurance. I would send it back if i was you. If you bought it online you have a seven day cooling off period.
If you don't want to do that insist on speaking to the manager and demand the upgrade you were promised. Make a scene and attract attention, they don't like that
Failing that just download a copy an ~~~~ em all

      THE TRUTH
      The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

Did you know that for breaching the Trade Descriptions Act 1968 you get a nice little fine of ?5000 per TRANSACTION where a consumer was missled?

If i was PC World id rather fork out several ?30 subsidies than several 5k fines

This is why companies like ASDA give the correct price and a ?2 gift card to a customer whos been missled on a buy one get one free/rollback or multibuy offer. Its cheaper than fighting the court cases!

Get on the phone and let them know that you'll be inclined to contact trading standards and that they better have all their paperwork in order for a friendly audit.
