    Mobo swap.

    Hi all.
I am thinking of swapping the motherboard and processor in my desktop running genuine windows 7 home premium.
    My question is as follows.
If i go ahead and do the upgrade will my copy of win 7 still run ok without the need for re-activation and all the hassle that goes with it or will it simply run as normal.
In the past i have had major issues after a similar mobo upgrade and it took me 2 weeks to get M soft to issue another license key to me.
I intend to put the new mobo in the case that i currently use so all hardware will be the same as it was apart from the mobo.
    Any info gratefully received.
    Cheers.

I changed a MOBO using the win 7 OEM key , and it was okay. People are selling old win7 keys from scrap comuters. I thought it was Win 8 and 10 that the key is locked to the motherboard.

I had problems with win 7 the last time i upgraded my mobo.
After a LOT of hassle with M soft they agreed to give me a new key and conceded that pc's and components have a finite life (i also told then i would get a pirate copy ).
They also said they would look into not having the o/s locked to the mobo (or main board as they called it) and would probably do something about it in a future update.
As you have upgraded then M soft may have actually been true to their word (unusual).
If it went ok for you then i may go ahead and upgrade my mobo,i did think of a new pc but i refuse to have win 10 spying on me all the time it's running.
      Cheers for the message.

I know that MS usally are not happy when You are changing mobo and then using your old key. At least at job - when some mobo dies we are buying new license.

I decided to buy a new pc instead of a mobo swap so all should be ok as it came with win 7.
          Cheers all.
