the site isnt accurate mate, you get different speeds on different servers, i got 11.81meg on irelands, 16 meg on birmingham, and 16,64 on london, but if i download from newgroups it downloads at 22 meg

to get an accurate speed test download a linux dvd or iso from an FTP site, this will completely max most connections (unless your on a commercial pipe and paying more for it than i do for rent a month)

This will allow you to measure peak and sustained speeds and as its a linux iso its not illegal
He who laughs last thinks slowest.

The most accurate is to install a program called (DU Meter).

As it measures the direct speed going through your installed hardware (lan/wifi) on your pc/laptop & not the speed that is going through someone else's speed test webserver.

          Have a look here:

          DU Meter Home Page

It will also show you hourly, daily, weekly & monthly stats..

I have got a hacked full copy of "DU Meter version 4.14" if you want me to upload it on here I can.

          hope this helps
