Thinking of having a laptop made to own state of the art specs, only running XP, but wondering if XP can handle the hardware.

depends on the specs and the cost... too much hassle imho, would persoannly just go and buy a second hand top of the line Thinkpad instead.

Ideally AMD dual core processor, 4Gb Ram (minimum), NVidia graphics card (or equivalent), 9 pin serial port, minimum 750Gb hard drive with possible slave and SCSI architecture.
