    Laptop Battery Care

Hi there all, I have had to buy a new battery for my laptop today and was wondering if I am doing something wrong with it, was great to beguin with about 2-3 hours battery life but after a 2-3 years of use the battery life was down to 20mins,

How should I use the battery for geater life, should I leave it plugged in the charger all the time as I have been doing or regulary charge the battery and run it completely flat.

In case you were wondering My Battery is a Lithium Iron Battery, does it matter if I dont run it completely flat before I recharge.

The reason I ask this for example is that a car battery is designed to work best if you keep it fully charged but run it flat a few times and goodbye no more battery, but most mobile batteries are designed to be discharged regulary, would just like to keep my battery on my laptop in tip top condition for as long as possible really

    Kindest thanks ....

car batterys are totally different m8, normal rechargable batteries for phones cameras lappys etc need conditioning, they need running totally flat every so often then recharging fully, 2-3 years out of one battery sounds about right to me m8, your just ready for a new 1.

When you get your new battery let it charge fully for several hours - the computer may say its charged fully but it won't be, take it out and put it back in.

also another tip is to make sure you have plenty of RAM in your laptop, this will reduce the need to create virtual RAM on the harddrive and that saves a lot of battery power.

another thing is to only use the battery when you need to. If you're using your laptop from the mains, take the battery out and let the mains do the work.
