I have XP installed now, but it is an unliscenced copy, will this upgrade over it? Also, if I need to re-install Win7 at all, do I have to install XP again?
Hi m8, win 7 wont upgrade xp, only Vista
partition your hard drive and install 7 as well and you can dual boot between the 2
ive done this with xp & 7 and the only compatibility issues i had were for eathernet and speakers
and if they are fairly new it should be easy to download drivers anyway
However you can upgrade your hooky xp to hooky vista ultimate then to hooky windows 7 ultimate, that's what someone I know has done-not me honestly guv, and all is working fine, and no you wont need xp to re install
As red devil said, you could just install it on a different partition but If you do just do an ordinary upgrade, all of your files from xp will be stored in C:\windows.old - Window 7 does this for you
