    slow torrent downloads

i'm currently with tesco for my broadband, and use bitlord to download my torrents, and only get up to 80-90 kbps on my downloads, but tonight i put bitlord on a friends computer and tried to download a 50mb file and they got 900kbps!!!!!!! ot took 2 minutes tops! i've looked at my download speed on test sites and it's seems shit hot, but i don't get anywhere near the speeds when downloading, i realise it could be due to the seeders etc, but hell, i've never got anywhere near that! here's my results :

The first thing i would do is check the ports are open correctly on your router if you have one and also see if upnp enabled, that should get you started to correcting your problem.

alongside port forwarding theres 2 other things you should do. The first is limit your upload speed to just under what the speedtests show. remember that your broadband speed is measured in megabits, so you will need to divide the result by 8 to get your megabyte speed. Failing to limit your upload speed will cause your bandwidth to get eaten. If you're too stingy with it you won't get the download speeds as bittorrents are designed to prioritise download slots to uploaders to increase the health of the file more quickly.

The next thing you must do is limit yourself to as few active torrents as possible. One or uploads/downloads at the most. I don't know why, but it always seems quicker when ou queue the downloads rather than trying to download as many as possible simultaneously.
