For christmas... both my kids wanted their own laptops. Well my daughter wanted a netbook. After a bit of shopping around i got her a Bauer/Haiser 10.1" w107. It has the N270 cpu, 160g sata hdd, 1g ddr2 ram widows xp sp3 ect ect. its not to shabby looking, and where as a lot of these netbooks look like they will fall apart after a few weeks this 1 is very well made. also it only cost ?160 instead of the ?200+ for most the others of the same spec.
so why am i gob-smacked!!!!! easy.... 1 of her friends has a acer same spec running windows 7 home. not to be out done i have installed windows 7 ultimate on this tiny machine... and blow me not only does it work but it works well. i did a fresh install of w7 most the drivers installed from the cd that came with it for xp sp3... the only exception been the wireless lan which i got from windows update... however that would not have mattered as the range of the wireless lan is not that good so i had bought her a tp-link usb adapter which gives a solid connection to my router and nas.
so for ?160 + ?10 for the usb wifi adapter this bit of German teck is running w7 with no apparent problems... something to think about before you go out and spend silly money for a netbook...
