How do i play movies after i download them

Hi i have been trying to play back some movies that ive got from U to..ent it says that they have been succesful in the down load ,when i go to the folder they are stored in some opens up and lets you play them back with WM Player, others say that you need some Codecs,and others show that there is 700mb and the only play the intro sound for about 30 seconds
and then cut of. what is the best player for playing back these type of movies,also the quickest or the best type of softwarew to convert mp4 or avi to dvd

Agreed with VLC player. Also get K-Lite Codec Pack, has everything you need including a very useful tool called GSpot which will tell you what Codec is needed for any file that you have trouble opening.

I use codecs so I can watch them using mediaplayer.
