Copying music to dvd

I am trying to copy my albums on to dvd's to clear some space on my lappy, but every time i try it, it try's to copy the albums to cd, i have tried nero, windows media player, has any one got any ideas on what software will allow me to copy them to dvd's

Are you sure you are using the program the right way?

When you use Nero, you have an option that allow you to choose do you want to wright your data either on DVD or CD.

Where on nero does it give you the option to burn to dvd or cd ??

are you trying as mp3 or making regular audio cd?

As MxWill says... mp3? or audio cd?
If you want something to play on a cd player then you need to use a CD, and then chose the option to burn audio cd, this will convert your mp3's to a playable cd...
BUT...
And I think this is what you want,
You just want to store your mp3 music collection so you can free up some space, then chose make data disc under the dvd option. Then drag all your mp3's on. This will only play on a computer or maybe some newer mp3 playing Audio devices.

yeah on nero it says make data dvd click that then drag all files musice video clips whatever you want to stor onto it and burn m8 it should be the first screen with nero or depending on what nero it is the side of the first sdcreen so top or side hope this helps m8
