    Sharing files and dvd drive

I have a 13" macbook pro, I have also just bought an acer aspire one d250 on windows xp.

There is no dvd drive on my acer, and I do all my downloading on my macbook pro.

So can some explain how I can set up sharing files between the two laptops and only those two.

It would also be great to share my dvd drive.

Im no expert in the networking field but Ive done this once and was pretty easy...

the way I used was by going through a wireless router... assuming the laptop has wifi and windows you can go to Start>Run>type in cmd>then in the command prompt type ipconfig to see ips(write them down) maybe 2 or 3 off them

with both machines connected to the router... go on the laptop and right click the files you want to share and go to share this file/folder or drag them into the Shared Documents folder in "My Computer"

then on the mac all you have to do is open Finder window then at the top of the screen(menu bar) youll see the word "Go" in that drop down menu hit connect to server and type in the ips you got earlier(one at a time).. youll see the folder(s) your sharing on the other laptop appear on screen for you to copy or add files into

Maybe theres an easier way.. but if both laptops are wifi and you have a wifi router thats the way I thought was very simple... although pretty slow at moving big amounts of files
