    CPU Advice

Currently, I have a pretty lousy CPU. I was thinking of buying a new unit and installing it myself. However, I was told it may be easier to just buy a new motherboard.

Any advice from anyone who has done this themselves?

    Much appreciated.

"lousy CPU"??... what is it you have at the minute, and what type of motherboard have you got

You may need a new motherboard anyway, because motherboard cpu sockets are different and can only support a certain range of cpus.. so depending on what type of new cpu your after depends wether youll need a new motherboard

The reason I ask what your motherboard is is to see what the fastest cpu is for it.. but like I said it still may not be what your looking.. so new motherboard is likely

If you think your cpu is slow then, sorry, your gonna need a new board/maybe ram too.

Google your CPU. Then see what your board will hold.

Before going out, spending lots of cash, ask yourself, what do i want this machine to do?

      My current set ups are

      Q6600 (socket 775)
      4gb ram
      and decent gfx card

I really cant complain at that set up at all.
