PC to LCD TC: adjusting screen settings

I have just connected my laptop to my Sharp Aquaos 32 inch LCD TV using a DVI to HDMI cable. The problem i now have is three fold:

    1) The picture is slightly bigger than my tv screen. To explain how my desktop looks on my tv screen, the start button and task bar i can only just see the top of, therefor cannot actually see any icons on the taskbar. The same applies to the top and sides of the desktop, the top row of icons, i.e. My Computer, is almost out of view.

    Q. can anyone advise me if it is possible to adjust the screen settings to fit properly, and if yes, how do i do this.

    2) When the desktop first appears on my lcd tv, for the first few seconds the picture appears quite sharp, it then refreshes and becomes slightly blurred so, for example, the icon names are more difficult to read.

    Q. Is it possible to increase the sharpness of the picture on my lcd screen, and if yes, how do i do this.

    3) When i first plugged the cable in, switched the laptop and tv on, when the desktop loaded up for the first time a box appeared giving me 3 options: 1) laptop screen always on when connected to tv. 2) i dont actually remember. 3) laptop screen always switched off when connected to tv. I opted for the third option. Now everytime i connect my laptop to my tv the screen on my laptop switches off. I actually find this quite annoying at times but have no idea how to re-adjust this. Can anyone help with this?

    My laptop spec is:

    Asus M51S
    CPU - Core T5850
    HDD - 320GB
GC - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470

    Thanks in advance!

    Regards

    1. you will have a button on your tv to change screen size (full, 16:9, panoramic, zoom etc..),press this button with laptop connected.
you will now only have two options (full screen 1, full screen 2)
change it to full screen 2 and your screen will fit.

    2. you need to adjust screen resolution.

    3. sorry, dont know this one. you should be able to do it though

      1) try different resolutions to see what fits best. Put the TV on 'auto'

      2) See if 'cleartype' is activated, it's in desktop settings > appearance somewhere.

      3) if it's a Tosh laptop, it'll be 'FN' key + F5 ( i think ) to cycle thru the 3 or so different options.
