Its all down to personal preference mate. Different case have different slots for more drives, I aint sure what else is the difference.

you may get some cases fitted with a psu (power supply unit) if you go down that road just make sure you get one with 450-550 watts to allow for upgrades.

Also that the PSU will support your chosen motherboard & processor.

It would probably be better to start there & look at the case once you know which board & processor you're going for.

Two of the best places are Ebuyer.com & Novatech.co.uk

Make sure you look at the barebones options that both sites offer. This will give you the case, PSU & motherboard. Some options will also give you the processor & memory. All you will need to add is the HDD's, Gfx card if required & optical drive(s).

Then you're on to the peripherals & monitor

Hi billy2, If you go to SCAN UK websight you'll be able to pick and choose your parts and also you get the info for the correct motherboard and processor combi. Just have a look arround their site www.scan.co.uk it may help and they deliver.Hope this helps.

before you buy a mobo i would decide on the cpu first that will determine which board to get.

I myself am building a mid range pc heres what I've seen whilst doing some research

Antec 300 for the case... the best in its price range even for highend setups.. good cooling

Asus or Gigabyte MB's are both the best mid range boards.. if you're not gonna do crossfire/sli then get one with one pci-e slot(it will save you some dough)... also watch out for chipsets(northbridge).. most chipsets only do crossfire or sli and not both

And like dasteph said, see what cpu you want first.. seems core i5(socket 1156) is a good first buy as you can move up to an i7 later on

And a Radeon 5770 seems like the best bang for buck card at the minute

And 4gigs of ram, 800mhz or more is good performing memory

Get a good 50 quid psu too... as its more future proof and will keep your components safe

That's the setup I'm putting together soon
