I am new to buying laptops ,i wonder if someone can give me advice on the best ,have about ?375 to spend .

should get a decent laptop for that kind of money try the acer range from tesco. Me i prefer spending a couple of hundred quid extra for a sony vaio mid ranger.

yes i agree with the above poster Acer are excellent all round entry level laptops and the build quality is excellent

Are they expensive ? and do they have a good battery life?

get one for about ?350 and battery will be about 2 1/2 hours which is average for that price

you will get better battery life with windows 7 compared to all the previous windows versions mate
